EVANESCENCE – Sanctuary

Evanescence – Sanctuary

So here it is: Sanctuary, the sixth studio album by Evanescence, was released a week ago – on June 5, 2026 – and marks the band’s first new album since The Bitter Truth in 2021. Fans have probably already listened to it over and over again. For everyone else, here is our take on the album.

The record features twelve tracks, once again fronted by Amy Lee, whose voice and presence continue to define the band.

So what remains after the first listen? First of all, a consistently strong production and songs that are undeniably easy to listen to – there is really nothing wrong with that. And yet, we still find ourselves wondering where the band’s massive and enduring success actually comes from. A lot of it probably still ties back to the outstanding debut album and, of course, their iconic hit Bring Me to Life – with many fans continuing to hope that the next record will finally deliver another truly standout moment.

In our opinion, this new album simply does not live up to those expectations. As mentioned before: the craftsmanship is solid throughout. But what is missing is that one song that truly stands out. Instead, most of the tracks end up sounding fairly similar, without delivering a real highlight.

Sanctuary is definitely an album you can listen to and enjoy – but ultimately, it leaves very little lasting impression. Solid songwriting and strong production, but without that one memorable moment that truly sticks with you.
