With songs from “Placebo” and “Without You I’m Nothing,” Placebo will return to European stages in autumn 2026 – and on October 29, the band will also stop in our hometown of Frankfurt.
Three decades after the release of their self-titled debut album, Placebo are celebrating their musical beginnings with the 30th Anniversary Tour. The British alternative rock band are dedicating the tour to their first two albums, “Placebo” (1996) and “Without You I’m Nothing” (1998). The setlist is also expected to include songs that have not been performed live for more than 20 years.
The tour will be accompanied by a special release: With “PLACEBO RE:CREATED,” Brian Molko and his bandmates have revisited their debut album. They returned to the original master tapes and reworked the album’s ten original songs, along with two bonus tracks. The result combines the album’s original character with the musical experience gained over 30 years on stage. The record’s defining songs include “Nancy Boy” and “36 Degrees.”
Released in 1996, the debut album established Placebo internationally with its distinctive sound and deliberately unconventional artistic identity. From the beginning, the band addressed themes such as identity, sexuality, and social expectations, developing a unique position within British rock music.
With the anniversary tour, Placebo are building a bridge between their early releases and their long live history. On October 29, 2026, the band will perform at Frankfurt’s Festhalle. For us as a music magazine from the region, the concert in our hometown is a particularly special date on the European tour.
