Vancouver folk-extreme metal outfit ATAVISTIA have released their most folk-inspired full-length to date, ‚Old Gods Awaken‘, via Blood Blast Distribution. The record marks the band’s most folk-influenced work to date, featuring shorter, more direct compositions that reflect a deliberate evolution in songwriting while remaining anchored in the group’s established sonic identity.

To accompany the release, ATAVISTIA have shared a lyric video for ‚Ride The White Storm‘, a track positioned later in the album’s sequence to allow the more experimental material to take precedence. The song serves as a reminder that ATAVISTIA have not forsaken the sound that earned them their dedicated following, instead placing it in conversation with their broadening artistic palette.

Musically, ‚Ride The White Storm‘ delivers everything long-time listeners have come to expect: sweeping orchestral layers, intricate and melodic guitar leads, ferocious blast beats, and monstrous harsh vocals, all interwoven with clean vocal harmonies that soar above a dense textural arrangement. Drawing from folk metal, black metal, and the wide spectrum of styles in between, the track encapsulates ATAVISTIA’s commitment to following inspiration wherever it leads.

‚Old Gods Awaken‘ was produced, mixed, and mastered by Mattias Sippola, and recorded at Atavistic Studios by Sippola and drummer Max Sepulveda. Cover artwork was created by Costin Chioreanu. The album’s eight-track listing spans compositions ranging from ‚Raise All Thy Horns‘ to the title track, painting vast sonic landscapes of snow-covered forests and ancient Norse mythology that have long defined ATAVISTIA’s world.
