On Thursday, October 29, 2026, Placebo brought their tour to Frankfurt’s Festhalle. The evening kicked off with support act The Mirror Trap, who warmed up the audience ahead of the headliners.

One aspect of the show deserves particular praise: At Placebo’s request, fans were asked to keep their smartphones in their pockets throughout the performance. The security team enforced this policy consistently, immediately stepping in whenever someone raised a phone to take pictures or record videos. It was a welcome approach that allowed the audience to focus entirely on the music and the experience on stage rather than watching the show through countless glowing screens. A concept that more artists and venues should consider adopting.
Musically, however, Placebo took a rather subdued approach. With a running time of approximately 75 minutes, the set was relatively short. The setlist leaned heavily towards slower and more restrained songs, while several well-known hits and fan favourites were noticeably absent. This was reflected in the crowd’s reaction, as the atmosphere struggled to reach the intensity one might expect from a Placebo show.

One notable exception was, of course, “Every You Every Me”. The band’s iconic hit briefly brought the crowd to life, with fans finally showing plenty of energy. For a moment, the atmosphere inside the Festhalle picked up considerably, demonstrating the potential for a much more electrifying evening. There could certainly have been more moments like this.
Overall, Placebo delivered an atmospheric evening, but one that never quite became the energetic concert experience it could have been. The smartphone-free policy was a definite highlight and deserves recognition. However, the relatively short performance and restrained song selection left the impression that there was still plenty of potential untapped.
