The next single from the new Pretty Addicted ‚Blackened Chapter‘ brings you the blasphemous sounds of „MOCK“
It has a black metal influence alongside aggressive electronica creating a dark and powerful ritual as something truly unique.
The bass is a wriggly little ear worm you need to scratch, the drums smash at you like a forceful wave of noise and the vocal harmonies are like an evil church choir of both growling demons and singing angels. Out now, this is the second installment from the new album due for release in 2027 and is a dramatic and emotional contrast to the previous single „ROT“.
Growing up in evangelical christianity, and as a former brainwashed believer herself, sole songwriter, producer, vocalist and frontwoman Vicious spent enough time in church and a Christian household to know the bible quite well. Now proudly „fallen from grace“ she calls out the hypocrisy and narcissism of a god forced upon on her and the western world in this intense and power-driven song, using the words of that very book to shine a „light“ on what we’ve all been told is good.
This track could almost be seen as a church-like piece in itself, which was purposeful. It was made in a way to mock their worship songs with, of course, a sacrilegious intensity to it.
This will comfort the souls of those once lost to a cruel god, appease the ones who just want to get lost in something heavy and upset the ones who deem themselves holy. It’s the perfect storm of power.
