DELAIN are entering a new chapter. In a statement shared on the band’s official Instagram channel, the Dutch symphonic metal band announced that vocalist Diana Leah has decided to leave after several years to pursue other things in life.
Rather than searching for a direct replacement, founding member and songwriter Martijn Westerholt and the remaining core lineup — Ludovico Cioffi, Ronald Landa and Sander Zoer — are embracing a new creative direction built around collaboration with a wide range of artists and vocalists.
The concept will shape DELAIN’s upcoming album, with different artists contributing their own voices, personalities and musical identities. The band also plans to bring this collaborative approach to the stage, with various artists joining the group for live performances.
The announcement comes 20 years after DELAIN’s debut album Lucidity, which was built around the idea of bringing different musical worlds together. Westerholt says the band now intends to take that concept further than ever before, while keeping DELAIN’s unmistakable identity at its heart.
Although Diana Leah’s departure marks the end of an era, the band has expressed its gratitude for their time together and made clear that she will always remain welcome in the DELAIN family.
DELAIN’s next chapter begins tomorrow, with the release of a new single via Napalm Records.
