MOTÖRHEAD are set to release a special 20th anniversary edition of their 2006 album ‚Kiss of Death‘, remastered from the original tapes using the half-speed method. The release includes a previously unreleased live recording from the Lowlands Festival 2007, available on double LP and double CD from July 3.MOTÖRHEAD have announced a landmark 20th anniversary edition of ‚Kiss of Death‘, the band’s 18th studio album, originally released in 2006. The reissue, due out on July 3 via BMG, has been remastered from the original tapes using the half-speed mastering process, ensuring the highest possible audio fidelity for a new generation of listeners.
The anniversary package comes loaded with exclusive content, most notably a bonus live LP capturing MOTÖRHEAD’s full performance at the Lowlands Festival in Biddinghuizen, Netherlands, in 2007. This recording, previously unreleased in any format, will make its vinyl debut as part of this edition. The CD version goes even further, adding three additional bonus tracks including a 2006 version of ‚R.A.M.O.N.E.S.‘ and a live rendition of ‚Whiplash‘.
New liner notes by Classic Rock writer Dave Ling accompany the release, reflecting on the album’s legacy and paying tribute to guitarist Phil Campbell, who passed away earlier this year after a career spanning decades of raw, uncompromising rock.
Originally recorded with Lemmy Kilmister’s distinctive rasp front and center, Phil Campbell’s ferocious guitar work, and Mikkey Dee’s razor-sharp drumming, ‚Kiss of Death‘ featured notable guest appearances from Mike Inez of ALICE IN CHAINS and C.C. DeVille of POISON. Fan favorites such as ‚Sucker‘, ‚Trigger‘, and ‚God Was Never On Your Side‘ remain cornerstones of the MOTÖRHEAD catalogue.
To mark the announcement, a brand new lyric video for ‚God Was Never On Your Side‘, directed by Andy Pilkington, has been released. Pre-orders for the anniversary edition are available now.
