KHEMMIS have released their second single ‚Beneath The Scythe‘ from their highly anticipated self-titled fifth album, due June 12 via Nuclear Blast Records. The Denver doom metal veterans follow up the explosive opener ‚Invocation of the Dreamer‘ with a track that blends colossal riffs, soaring melodies, and an unmistakable emotional depth that has defined the band for over a decade.KHEMMIS continue building momentum toward their self-titled fifth full-length with the unveiling of ‚Beneath The Scythe,‘ the latest single from the Denver heavy metal institution’s most anticipated release in years. Due out June 12 via Nuclear Blast Records, the album marks a decisive new chapter for a band already regarded as one of modern doom metal’s most revered names.
Following the explosive debut single ‚Invocation of the Dreamer,‘ ‚Beneath The Scythe‘ digs deeper into KHEMMIS’s sharpened sense of purpose, merging colossal riffs, soaring melodies, and the kind of emotional weight that has anchored the band’s catalog since their 2015 debut Absolution. Guitarist and vocalist Ben Hutcherson describes the track as a showcase for all four members letting loose, featuring dueling guitar solos, ripping drum fills, and a bass solo set against a haunting atmospheric interlude — all wrapped in what he calls a journey unlike anything the band has previously attempted.
Alongside the single, KHEMMIS has launched pre-orders for a band-exclusive vinyl variant of the record: a transparent magenta pressing with white splatter, limited to just 400 copies worldwide. The urgency is real — a previously released exclusive pressing sold out in under 24 hours, and the Decibel magazine exclusive edition has already moved through its entire run.
The self-titled album features eight tracks of monolithic heavy metal, adorned with artwork by Christopher Remmers, and represents what Hutcherson calls a celebration of the music world that has sustained the band through a decade of personal and artistic evolution.
In support of the record, KHEMMIS will perform a one-off show with ACID BATH and CHAT PILE in May before headlining the Forsake The Light tour with NECROFIER and WRETCHED throughout June and July, followed by dates alongside MONOLORD in late August and September.
