Chicago death metal force DITHEIST are set to unleash their long-awaited sophomore album ‚Cosmic Liar‘ on June 6, marking their first full-length release in nearly ten years. The record promises a relentless assault of precision riffing, feral intensity, and abyssal atmosphere. Two singles are already available, offering a first taste of what the band describes as their most vicious work to date.Chicago-based death metal outfit DITHEIST are back from a decade of silence with ‚Cosmic Liar‘, a new full-length album scheduled for digital release on June 6. The announcement marks a significant moment for the underground death metal community, as the band has been largely absent since their 2015 debut album ‚Eternity of Nothingness‘ earned widespread praise from critics and underground outlets alike.
Formed in 2006, DITHEIST built their reputation on uncompromising death metal destruction, drawing comparisons to genre heavyweights such as ATHEIST, DECAPITATED, BEHEMOTH, and VADER. The band’s return appears to double down on those influences while pushing further into blasphemous and cosmically themed territory.
‚Cosmic Liar‘ consists of eight tracks, including the already released singles ‚Evil To Live‘ and ‚Nyarlathotep‘, the latter of which features guest contributions from Briant Daniel on guitar solo, Thomas Moore on oud, and Mad Chad Chanfield on Irish low whistle. The album was recorded, mixed, and mastered by Chris Wisco at Belle City Sound in Racine, Wisconsin, with production handled jointly by Wisco and guitarist Konrad Lysak.
The lineup for the record features Matt ‚Chesterfields‘ Wright on vocals, Lysak and Brian Frost on guitars, Frost doubling on bass, and Narcyz Fortuna on drums. Cover artwork was created by Tatomir Pitariu.
With themes spanning existential dread, dark humor, and social commentary, DITHEIST position ‚Cosmic Liar‘ as a definitive statement of their identity as a no-frills, precision-driven death metal entity. The album is available for pre-order now via Bandcamp.
