Based in Ylöjärvi, Finland, WOODEN SHADOW has been active since 2020, with Ponto serving as the sole creative force behind the project. The new EP blends folk metal and melodic death metal into a cohesive collection that the artist describes as emotionally wide-ranging, encompassing pride, celebration, sadness, rage, and calmness across its runtime.
The tracklist for ‚Age of Tree‘ reads as follows: ‚The Dust‘, ‚We Are The North‘ (focus track), ‚The Quiet War Within‘, ‚Standing On The Shore‘, and ‚The Great Feast‘ (focus track). All compositions and lyrics were written by Ponto, who also handled the single cover artwork.
Commenting on the release, Ponto stated that the EP represents a multi-dimensional emotional journey, with the entire orchestration once again limited to a single performer. The lyrical themes of WOODEN SHADOW have consistently centred on nature, the darker facets of the human mind, and reflections on life and death.
