Warriors taking their final journey to Valhalla, the sun and the moon locked in a battle no one can win, and Death himself asking for a dance: on their new album “Tanz der Elemente”, Brachmond tell 13 stories of warriors, spirits, inner demons and the search for oneself.
The Munich-based seven-piece have been shaping their own blend of medieval rock and metal for more than a decade. Bagpipes and violin meet heavy electric guitars, while Irish bouzouki and flute add further layers to their distinctive sound. The result is atmospheric, energetic and deeply rooted in the band’s folk and medieval influences.
The album brings together songs that explore very different sides of this world. “Asgard” follows a nameless warrior through his final moments on the battlefield and his journey to Valhalla. “Geister der Nacht” turns inward, confronting the demons created by our own thoughts, while “Schatten und Licht” explores the eternal conflict between darkness and light, life and struggle. “Der Fährmann” deals with departure, letting go and crossing into the unknown.
At the heart of the album stands the title track, “Tanz der Elemente”. Fire, water, wind and earth become symbols of inner change, reflecting highs and lows, fear and courage, and the search for one’s own core. Its central idea is ultimately a deeply personal one: returning to the person you once were and asking who you really are.
“Tanz der Elemente” follows a series of Brachmond singles released from 2025 onwards, including “Asgard”, “Geister der Nacht”, “Schatten und Licht” and “Der Fährmann”. The album is released through Hicktown Records, where Brachmond are part of the label’s medieval and metal roster.
The album was produced with Reinhard von Wegen, whose production credits include artists such as KAFFKIEZ, Vroudenspil and Koenix. Hicktown Records describes its approach as high-end music production across rock, metal, folk and other genres, with von Wegen serving as producer and A&R manager.
“Tanz der Elemente” is therefore more than a collection of medieval tales. Beneath the battles, ghosts and mythical imagery runs a recurring theme: finding your way through darkness, confronting what lies within and remembering who you are.
