FIMBUL WINTER, the melodic death metal outfit formed by three former members of AMON AMARTH, have released their new single ‚When The Sun Comes Out At Night‘ featuring guest vocalist Johan Lindstrand of THE CROWN. The track follows the band’s debut EP ‚What Once Was‘ and previous single ‚Crowned In Ash‘, continuing their trajectory as one of the genre’s most compelling new forces.FIMBUL WINTER, the Stockholm and Melbourne-based melodic death metal outfit comprising three former members of AMON AMARTH, have unveiled their latest single, ‚When The Sun Comes Out At Night‘, featuring guest vocalist Johan Lindstrand of THE CROWN. The release marks another bold step forward for a band determined to honour and expand upon the Swedish death metal traditions they helped to define.
The track delivers a thunderous, high-speed assault driven by relentless riffing and ferocious percussion. Entwining guitar melodies cut through the sonic storm alongside the anguish-laden harsh vocal performances of FIMBUL WINTER vocalist Clint Williams and Lindstrand, whose contribution lends the track an additional layer of intensity. Despite its brutality, the song builds toward a heroic, cathartic conclusion that underscores the band’s gift for melodic storytelling.
Lyrically, the song examines the disorienting experience of confronting reality too clearly — a moment of awakening that dismantles previously held certainties and leaves one unmoored in the wreckage of former conviction.
Production credits are substantial: drums and guitars were tracked at Studio Fluff Vasteras with engineer Andreas Moren, while vocals were handled at Witching Hour Audio by Shaun Farrugia. Bass was performed by Risa Andersson, with mixing and mastering completed by Marko Tervonen at Studio-MT. Cover artwork was created by Katarzyna Urbanek.
FIMBUL WINTER was founded in 2023 by AMON AMARTH founding members Niko Kaukinen and Anders Biazzi, alongside fellow alumnus Fredrik Andersson, with Clint Williams completing the line-up. Their origins trace back to a spontaneous reunion performance of AMON AMARTH’s 1994 demo ‚The Arrival Of The Fimbul Winter‘, an event that reignited a shared creative drive and ultimately led to the 2025 debut EP ‚What Once Was‘.
