TORRENTIAL RAIN – Pest Control (EP)

Nuremberg progressive metalcore band returns with four new tracks

With “Pest Control,” Torrential Rain release their new EP – four songs, roughly 15 minutes in length, marking the band’s first major release since their 2023 album “Digital Dreams.” The Nuremberg quartet – vocalist and guitarist Christopher Danner, guitarist Gordian Golder, bassist Dominik Grauvogl, and drummer Dario Trennert – has been one of the more consistent names in the German progressive metalcore and djent scene since forming in 2011.

The Tracklist:

  1. Pest Control (title track)
  2. Missing Is Enough
  3. Truth Teller
  4. Like A Drug

All four songs are by Torrential Rain; the EP arrives as a standalone release rather than a collection of pre-release singles, although individual tracks – including “Truth Teller” – had already been released separately as singles beforehand.

Torrential Rain have always moved between the force of bands like Architects and the technical precision of Periphery – a tension the band itself sums up under the motto “Power meets precision.” With over two million streams on Spotify alone and airplay in more than 150 countries, the band has built a solid international following over the years without ever leaving their Nuremberg roots behind.

The EP’s artwork picks up the title theme directly: a large-scale, menacing cockroach rendered in green tones – a visual departure from the cleaner look of earlier releases, and a hint that “Pest Control” may carry a rougher edge visually as well.

With “Pest Control,” Torrential Rain deliver a compact, four-track update for their fanbase – short enough not to bridge a long dry spell, but long enough to show where the journey continues musically after “Digital Dreams.” Whether the EP actually takes a sharper, more aggressive direction, as the title and artwork suggest, or whether the band’s familiar melodic side remains at the forefront, will become clear once the individual tracks are heard.
