Formed in 2020 by the artist known as AS, INHERITS THE VOID draws inspiration from the frozen visions of Vinterland, the incantatory fury of Misþyrming, and the melodic intensity of Dawn. Over the course of three well-received records — ‚Monolith of Light‘ (2021), ‚The Impending Fall of the Stars‘ (2023), and ‚Scars of Yesteryears‘ (2024), all released via Avantgarde Music — the project has carved out a singular identity within the modern French black metal scene, balancing emotional intensity with celestial melancholy.
‚The Silent Abscission‘ represents a conceptual and artistic leap forward. Conceived as a journey through eight visions, the album navigates the tension between incantatory convulsions and silent abysses, ultimately arriving at what the project describes as an inevitable and overwhelming resolution. Themes of cosmic implosion, erasure, and isolation run throughout the record, where riffs lash, dissonances burn, and harmonies collapse into silence.
