US/Mexico melodic death metal outfit FALSIMONIAN have released their debut single ‚Freefall‘, a genre-blending track that fuses progressive death metal with Mexican folk influences. The single serves as the first taste of the forthcoming EP ‚For Survival‘, set for independent release on November 7, 2026.FALSIMONIAN, the melodic death metal ensemble rooted in the bicultural experience of the US-Mexico border, have made their recorded debut with the single ‚Freefall‘. The track announces the forthcoming EP ‚For Survival‘, due for independent release on November 7, 2026.
Lyrically, ‚Freefall‘ confronts the psychological toll of living under a constant barrage of anxiety-inducing news cycles. The repeated line ‚On a loop, my life is repeating‘ encapsulates the sense of entrapment within an exhausting and demoralising daily rhythm, a state the band frames as a disturbing new normal.
Musically, the track merges melodic and progressive death metal with keyboard passages reminiscent of classic Finnish melodic death metal, while subtle rhythmic elements drawn from Mexican folk music lend the drums a distinctive, playful groove. The result is a sound that feels both globally influenced and deeply personal.
‚Freefall‘ sets the thematic tone for the full EP, which is conceived as a meditation on survival within a fictional dystopian world — a lens through which the band examines real-world fears of war, manipulation and societal collapse.
FALSIMONIAN was founded in 2024 by Jesus Fuentes and Erick Valverde, with Cesar Robles and Mauricio Gonzalez joining in 2025. Members are based across El Paso, Texas; Myrtle Beach, South Carolina; and Leon, Guanajuato, Mexico. The band cite OPETH, DARK TRANQUILLITY, DREAM THEATER, CHILDREN OF BODOM and BORN OF OSIRIS among their influences. ‚For Survival‘ was produced by Jesus Fuentes Valverde, with mixing and mastering handled by Gil Andrade.
