New Orleans sludge legends DOWN have made their Mardi Gras cover of Dr. John’s classic ‚Right Place, Wrong Time‘ available on all streaming platforms. The band also announces a remastered edition of their third studio album and a packed 2026 live schedule including major festival appearances.New Orleans heavyweights DOWN have officially released their cover of Dr. John’s ‚Right Place, Wrong Time‘ across all major streaming platforms. Originally unveiled as a limited video release in celebration of Mardi Gras earlier this year, the track serves as a heartfelt tribute to the late New Orleans native Dr. John, born Mac Rebennack, whose musical legacy blended blues, jazz, R&B, soul, and funk into something wholly unique. The original ‚Right Place, Wrong Time‘ appeared as the lead single from Dr. John’s 1973 album ‚In the Right Place‘ and remains the most celebrated single of his career. DOWN’s rendition pays homage specifically to Dr. John’s appearances on ‚The Midnight Special‘, the iconic late-night variety television series that aired from 1972 to 1981.
On the release front, Nuclear Blast Records has announced a remastered edition of DOWN’s third studio album, ‚Down III: Over The Under‘. Originally released in autumn 2007 and produced by Warren Riker, the record addressed the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina with raw emotional intensity. The 2026 edition features remastered audio by Eric Koondel and marks the first official US market availability of the LP on CD, vinyl, and digital formats, including bonus track ‚Invest In Fear‘. The release is scheduled for June 19th.
Live, DOWN will serve as direct support to SLAYER for the special 40th anniversary of ‚Reign In Blood‘ on September 4th in Shakopee, Minnesota, alongside SUICIDAL TENDENCIES and HATEBREED. The band will also headline day two of the Decibel Magazine Metal and Beer Fest Denver on December 5th, marking their first Denver appearance in over twelve years. Festival slots at Sweden Rock, Mystic Fest Poland, Hellfest, Aftershock, and Sick New World Texas round out an extensive 2026 schedule.
