The single arrives with a music video and represents, by the band’s own account, the most sonically intense moment across the entire record. ONLY ECHOES describe the track as evoking the sensation of being lost at sea while refusing to abandon the fight. That tension between despair and perseverance runs through every aspect of the composition, from its rhythmic shifts and catchy lead hooks to its shadowy passages that refuse to linger in hopelessness for too long.
Alternating between light and shade with deliberate precision, ONLY ECHOES deploy carefully curated changes in pace and instrumental layering throughout the track. Born Adrift was produced, engineered, and mixed by guitarist Austin Minney at All Aces Studio, with mastering handled by Brad Smalling at Evergroove. The album artwork reimagines an 1876 Gustave Doré engraving from The Rime of the Ancient Mariner, with color and illustration work by Denver artist Celeste Hayes.
Formed in 2018 and drawing influence from RUSSIAN CIRCLES, PELICAN, ISIS, and BARONESS, ONLY ECHOES have performed over 75 shows across the United States and shared stages with PALLBEARER and BIG|BRAVE. Their 2022 debut full-length Sunsickness established the band firmly within the genre, and Born Adrift promises to expand that legacy considerably.
