Change is part of the music business – but not every band handles it with the determination that Dust in Mind are currently showing. After the departure of their long-time vocalist Jenny, the Strasbourg-based outfit faced a crossroads: search for a new frontwoman or restructure internally?
They chose the latter. Damien, who previously served as guitarist, took over vocal duties full-time. A bold move that initially raised questions but has since proven its merit.
The band used 2025 to gradually reform.
With several singles released without Jenny, Dust in Mind tested different sonic approaches and explored where the journey with Damien on vocals could lead. This phase was necessary – for the band itself, but also for fans who needed to adjust to the altered lineup.
„Unbreakable“ as an Interim Result
With their latest single „Unbreakable,“ recently released alongside an official music video, Dust in Mind now present a convincing interim result. The track is built on massive grooves and a catchy, explosive chorus. Thematically, the song revolves around resilience and inner strength – attributes that also apply to the band’s own situation.
„Unbreakable“ is about getting back up after setbacks, about transforming difficulties into new energy. The message is clear, the execution powerful. The sound remains modern and stage-ready, with production focused on precision and impact.
What stands out about „Unbreakable“: the song doesn’t feel contrived or forced. The lyrical content – perseverance, reorientation, holding your ground – directly corresponds with what Dust in Mind are currently experiencing. This lends the track a credibility that can’t simply be composed.
Damien demonstrates at the microphone that the lineup change can work. His background as a guitarist brings a different perspective without forcing the band to abandon their identity. The modern metal sound that Dust in Mind are known for remains intact – just in an evolved form.
3″Unbreakable“ is now available on all major streaming platforms. The new album will be released on April 24, by the way.
