GREEN LUNG have released their new single ‚Necropolitan Line‘, a thunderous Motorhead-meets-Deep Purple rampage inspired by London’s Victorian-era Necropolis Railway. The track is taken from their forthcoming fourth album, Necropolitan, due September 11th 2026 via Nuclear Blast Records.GREEN LUNG have unveiled ‚Necropolitan Line‘, the second single from their highly anticipated fourth studio album Necropolitan, scheduled for release on September 11th 2026 through Nuclear Blast Records. The track is a ferocious, organ-driven juggernaut that draws inspiration from London’s real-life Necropolis Railway — a 19th-century train line that transported corpses and mourners across the capital — and the 1972 horror film Death Line. With a record-breaking BPM of 180 for the band, the song channels the firepower of Motorhead and the neoclassical duel of Richie Blackmore and Jon Lord at their most incendiary.
The accompanying video, directed by Tracy Mathewson with animation by Joseph Brett, pays tribute to the early 1970s German TV programme Beat Club, reimagined here as Crypt Club, introduced by longtime GREEN LUNG roadie Metal Joe.
Necropolitan was recorded at the legendary Rockfield Studios in January 2026 with producer Tom Dalgety, known for his work with OPETH and GHOST. The band stripped back their arrangements to their leanest form, recording much of the album live to capture their formidable stage sound with maximum rawness and fidelity.
To coincide with the album release, GREEN LUNG will conduct a UK in-store signing tour across London, Manchester, Birmingham and Bristol. Later in December, the band will headline the Dance to the Grave Tour MMXXVI across Europe and the UK, with special guests HIGH ON FIRE and GNOME. GREEN LUNG’s previous album This Heathen Land reached number one on the UK Official Rock and Metal Album Chart.
