The video was directed by Ryncuk Vystarobski, and its underground setting lends the visuals an atmosphere of rare and haunting authenticity.
The track features guest vocals by Aaron Stainthorpe, known as the longtime frontman of MY DYING BRIDE and currently active with HIGH PARASITE. For DYMNA LOTVA vocalist Katsiaryna ‚Nokt Aeon‘ Mankevich, the collaboration represents a long-held dream realised — the song itself is inspired by ‚Laddzia Rospačy‘, a celebrated work by Belarusian author Uladzimir Karatkevich.
‚The Boat of Despair‘ is the second advance single from ‚Vyraj‘, the fourth full-length album by DYMNA LOTVA, scheduled for release on August 7, 2026, via Prophecy Productions. The record marks a significant evolution in the band’s sound, expanding their post-black metal foundation with influences drawn from doom, progressive metal, electronic music, gothic, and Belarusian folklore.
Conceptually, ‚Vyraj‘ centres on the theme of Belarusian ethno-astronomy, drawing on Slavonic mythology in which the starry sky is associated with the afterlife and journeys. The album title refers to a mythical realm where migratory birds winter and where departed souls find rest — a concept that resonates deeply with the band’s own experience of forced emigration from Belarus.
The eight-track album also features contributions from Déhà of WOLVENNEST and Ingvarr of SCHREIGARM. DYMNA LOTVA are currently available for interviews ahead of the release.
