ANCIENT CURSE drop official video for festival anthem ‚Metal Lake‘

German progressive power metal veterans ANCIENT CURSE have released the official music video for their festival single ‚Metal Lake‘, filmed on location at the actual Vörder See lake. The band is set to perform at the Metal Lake open-air festival on July 18, 2026, alongside RAGE, Warlord, Victory, Mötörhell, and Dishonor.German progressive power metal outfit ANCIENT CURSE have followed up their April 9 single release with an official music video for ‚Metal Lake‘, the anthem they composed specifically for the open-air festival of the same name. In a move that underscores the band’s commitment to authenticity, the video was filmed on location at the Vörder See lake in Bremervörde, Lower Saxony — the very body of water that lends the festival its name and serves as the backdrop for its lake stage.

The Metal Lake festival is scheduled for July 18, 2026, and features a lineup that includes RAGE, Warlord, Victory, Mötörhell, and Dishonor alongside ANCIENT CURSE as the anthem composers.

With nearly four decades of activity behind them, ANCIENT CURSE have carved out a distinctive niche in the European power metal landscape. Their historical reach extends far beyond the continent: in the mid-nineties, the North German quartet achieved cult status in Cuba, becoming the first Western band since the Beatles to tour the island on the back of a number-one hit. That adventurous spirit has carried through to their current era, with two albums released since 2020, each reportedly more layered and ambitious than the last.

The band’s live reputation has been built alongside touring credits with BRAINSTORM, RAGE, Victory, Rough Silk, and Tankard, among others. The current lineup consists of Pepe Pierez on guitars and vocals, Gunnar Erxleben on guitars, Matthias Schröder on drums, and Thorsten Penz on bass. ‚Metal Lake‘ is available digitally via save-it.cc/epr/metal-lake, with the official video streaming now on YouTube.
