Spanish melodic death metal outfit BLOODHUNTER have unveiled a music video for their crushing cover of ANNIHILATOR’s classic ‚Human Insecticide‘. The track features on their forthcoming studio album ‚Sons Of The Abandoned‘, due June 12 via ROAR – A Division of Reigning Phoenix Music. The band has also announced a run of Spanish tour dates alongside CRYPTA.BLOODHUNTER are making no secret of their ambitions heading into the release of their new studio album. The Galician melodic death metal act have dropped a music video for their ferocious cover of ANNIHILATOR’s ‚Human Insecticide‘, the latest in a string of pre-release moves that also included the single ‚Threshold Of Hell‘, featuring Fernando Ribeiro of Moonspell. The cover version will appear as the closing track on ‚Sons Of The Abandoned‘, scheduled for release on June 12 via ROAR – A Division of Reigning Phoenix Music.
Guitarist Dani Arcos offered a straightforward explanation for the choice: ‚It’s a carefree, fun, and very raw song by Annihilator that I think fits well at BLOODHUNTER.‘ Vocalist Diva Satanica added that the track presented its own challenges: ‚A classic from this thrash band that it’s very convenient due to the current worldwide political events that was super hard to sing for me due to its speedy verses. I had a blast singing through it.‘
Produced by Tue Madsen, ‚Sons Of The Abandoned‘ marks a significant turning point for BLOODHUNTER. The record shifts inward thematically, exploring identity, vulnerability, toxic environments, and generational disconnection. Musically, it expands the band’s palette with crushing riffs, elegant grooves, and striking melodic passages placed in sharp contrast to one another.
Supporting the release, BLOODHUNTER will join CRYPTA on a series of Spanish dates beginning June 12 in Madrid, continuing through Mos, Vitoria, Valencia, and Badalona. The album is available for pre-order now.
