German progressive death metal titans OBSCURA have unleashed a new music video for ‚The Sun Eater‘ while simultaneously announcing a massive 39-date European and UK headline run dubbed Shred Fest 2027. The announcement marks a landmark moment as the band approaches its 25th anniversary.German progressive death metal masters OBSCURA are operating at full throttle, delivering a dual announcement that signals one of the most ambitious chapters in their two-decade career. The band has released a brand-new music video for ‚The Sun Eater,‘ the title track from their ongoing world tour cycle, directed by long-time collaborator Mirko Witzki, whose credits include work with Arch Enemy, Powerwolf, and Electric Callboy. The visual captures the technical precision and atmospheric density that has long defined OBSCURA’s sonic identity.
On the touring front, OBSCURA have confirmed Shred Fest 2027, a 39-date European and UK headline run with no days off — a deliberate statement of intent from the band’s mastermind Steffen Kummerer. The run kicks off on January 20 in Aschaffenburg and concludes on February 27 with a hometown show in Munich. Support comes from Dutch death metal legends PESTILENCE, UK avant-garde outfit CRYPTIC SHIFT, Danish progressive act THUS, and French extreme force DVRK.
The European campaign follows an extensive Asia tour launching May 1 in Bangkok, sweeping through Thailand, Indonesia, Taiwan, Vietnam, China, Mongolia, South Korea, Japan, India, the UAE, Armenia, and Georgia. OBSCURA also have festival appearances confirmed for Hellfest, Tilburg Metal Fest, Kaptura Festival, and Frantic Fest in 2026, alongside a Mexico run in October under the Beyond The Seventh Sun banner. With 2027 marking the 25th anniversary of OBSCURA, the band shows no sign of slowing down.
