The track marks another bold statement from a band whose music has consistently pushed against the boundaries of conventional heavy music.
The video, directed by Giacomo Marchetti, features a guest appearance from Eugene S. Robinson, the formidable vocalist known for his work with BUÑUEL and his longtime tenure with OXBOW. The collaboration feels both natural and inspired, with BARATRO explaining that Robinson was the only artist they could envision bringing the song’s narrative to life after crossing paths with him on several occasions over the years.
Robinson himself echoed that sentiment, invoking French writer Octave Mirbeau to describe the inevitability of the pairing, noting that certain songs demand a specific kind of treatment — and that ‚120 on 280‘ was precisely that kind of song.
BARATRO were formed in the orbit of Milan’s Cox18 squat and comprise Dave Curran (ex-UNSANE), Federico Hartridge (ex-COUNCIL OF RATS), and Luca Antonozzi (ex-MARNERO, ex-LAGHETTO). In 2024, the trio expanded to include cellist Matteo Bennici, who contributed to the composition of ‚No Comply‘. The band previously released the EP ‚Terms and Conditions‘ on Sangue Dischi in 2021 and their debut album ‚The Sweet Smell of Unrest‘ on Improved Sequence in 2024. ‚No Comply‘ is available for preorder via Supernatural Cat.
