The Halo Trees are known for their distinctive sound between indie rock and post-punk – carried by deep drums, warm basses, melancholic violin and a distinctive, sonorous voice. With „Totems,“ the Berlin band now presents another driving, rhythmic number that captures contemporary themes in poetic images.
„Totems“ is a song about the modern idols of our time – social media, technology, digital masks. Between urban concrete deserts, virtual identities and the lure of artificial proximity, the text describes a world in which old symbols disappear and new, digital totems take their place.
The track oscillates between atmospheric melancholy and driving intensity – a sonic reflection of our fragmented presence. The single is part of the new release series, which will culminate in The Halo Trees“ next album in 2026.
