KATAKLYSM + VADER + BLOOD RED THRONELive | Batschkapp Frankfurt | March 24, 2026

Some evenings announce themselves. This one did not need to.

The Freedom Or Death Tour carried its own weight walking into Frankfurt on a Tuesday night. Three bands between them holding more decades of stage history than most labels have been in existence, converging on one of the city’s most reliable venues. What followed was an evening that required no grand gesture to make its point.

Blood Red Throne

The Norwegians opened without ceremony. Blood Red Throne are a band that does not shrink in a support slot — they played with the composure of a group that knows its place in the genre and treats an audience accordingly. The tone for the evening was established early: unambiguous, unhurried, and without concession.

Vader

There are bands that, over time, reach a point where reputation and stage reality become one and the same. Vader are that band. The Poles performed with a quiet intensity that only develops when craft and conviction have been sharpened against each other for years. Their set was precise, consistent, and without a moment of slack — a performance that asked for nothing and gave accordingly.

Kataklysm

The headline slot belonged to Kataklysm, and the Canadians occupied it fully. Maurizio Iacono is a stage presence that extends beyond the purely musical — direct, genuine, with a capacity for real connection between songs that cannot be rehearsed. The current album formed the backbone of the set, material that gains urgency in a live context. The relationship between this band and its German audience was tangible on this night.

Verdict

The Freedom Or Death Tour delivered in Frankfurt what it promised. Three bands with three distinct identities, connected by a shared refusal to go through the motions. Not an evening for half measures — and not one that fades quickly.
