VENOM announce their brand new album „INTO OBLIVION“ for May 1, 2026 / First track „Lay Down Your Soul“ out today

Venom needs no introduction!

Since their formation in Newcastle in 1979, they have paved the way for extreme metal and created their own genre with black metal, which is now more popular than ever worldwide. Their influence as founders remains enormous.

„Into Oblivion“ is Venom’s 16th studio album and features the long-standing lineup of Cronos (bass/vocals and founding member), Rage (guitar), and Dante (drums). These are their first new recordings since 2018’s „Storm The Gates.“ „Into Oblivion“ comprises 13 songs in typical Venom style: heavy, dark, and catchy. They combine their classic 80s sound with a modern, more progressive approach, without losing the band’s old hardness and anger.

The album had been in the works for several years, but various factors delayed its completion until now. The Covid pandemic, delays in recording coupled with an uncompromising desire for perfection – all this made Venom’s work difficult. Cronos says: „This album has really set new standards, but if you want to make a killer album, you have to sacrifice blood, sweat and tears.“

But Venom, in true Venom style, overcame all adversity and released an album worthy of their legacy. Rage confirms: „I’m so proud of this album, it’s just amazing! It feels so different and yet so familiar. The sound has improved significantly. No two songs sound alike, but they all fit together perfectly!“

The lead single „Lay Down Your Soul“ is a brilliant start and reminiscent of the band’s early years and the song „Black Metal.“ Although it comes across with a slight wink, it has all the hallmarks of a future live classic with its rousing sing-along chorus. Cronos: „I think it’s important to remember things from the past and put them in a new context that gives them a whole new flavor. The fans are going to go crazy!“ You can watch the lyric video here:

The chemistry on „Into Oblivion“ is undeniable and musical proof of the longevity of this lineup, which, at 17 years old, outshines all others. Dante figuratively snaps his fingers: „That’s how fast it goes, seventeen years! We owe that to our friendship and mutual respect.“

„Into Oblivion“ will be released on May 1, 2026, via Noise/BMG.
