The Frankfurt thrash metal band Tankard performed at the Batschkapp over the weekend for a concert marking the band’s 44th anniversary and the venue’s 50th anniversary. The headliners were supported by Swiss band Pertness and Finnish formation Prestige.

Swiss band PERTNESS opened the concert with their style described as „Swiss Highland Metal“. The group combines classic heavy metal elements with folkloric components. The band knew how to engage the early crowd and really get the venue warmed up. Captivating sound and for us, the highlight of the evening.

Finnish band Speed/Trash Metal Act PRESTIGE presented their music with the precision and intensity typical of Scandinavian bands. Their direct, uncompromising sound fit well stylistically with the headliners and ensured the audience was appropriately warmed up.

Tankard presented a cross-section of their now 44-year career. The set included both older classics and newer material. Singer Gerre led through the evening and made several references to the band’s local connection to Frankfurt.
The audience remained engaged throughout, with several mosh pits forming in the front area. The band itself appeared visibly motivated to be playing in their hometown.
The anniversary occasion gave the evening a special significance. For Tankard fans and thrash metal enthusiasts, it offered an opportunity to experience the band in their local environment.
