PROPHECY FEST 2026 has completed its traditional Thursday opening ceremony with the addition of Finnish kantele neofolk act NEST. The outdoor Prophetic Overture celebration, set to begin at 16:00 CEST on September 3, will also feature NEUN WELTEN and a rare solo performance from SPIRITUAL FRONT vocalist Simone Salvatori.PROPHECY FEST 2026 has announced the final addition to its Prophetic Overture, the beloved outdoor opening ceremony that traditionally kicks off the three-day festival at the legendary Balve Cave in Germany’s Sauerland region. Finnish kantele neofolk project NEST will join the Thursday bill, bringing its distinctive blend of Nordic folk, ambient textures, and fantasy-inspired storytelling to the outdoor gathering.
NEST is the creation of project founder Aslak Tolonen, whose music draws from Finnish folk tradition, fantasy literature, and ancient fairy tales. At the heart of the project lies the kantele, a traditional Finnish plucked string instrument of the zither family, an instrument that found broader recognition in the metal world through AMORPHIS and their celebrated ballad ‚My Kantele‘.
The Prophetic Overture will commence at 16:00 CEST and is designed as a relaxed acoustic celebration featuring barbecue fire bowls and a welcome drink for arriving festivalgoers. Following NEST, NEUN WELTEN will perform a special set marking 20 years of ‚Vergessene Pfade‘, and SPIRITUAL FRONT vocalist Simone Salvatori will deliver a rare solo concert.
Festival founder Martin Koller described the Prophetic Overture as an opportunity for attendees to settle in after collecting wristbands and pitching tents, emphasizing its spirit of community and musical discovery.
PROPHECY FEST 2026 runs from September 3 to 5, with a confirmed lineup that also includes TIAMAT, EMPYRIUM, MISÞYRMING, DORNENREICH, ARTHUR BROWN, DYMNA LOTVA, SLEEPING PULSE, and many others. Three-day passes are priced at 149 euros plus a 10 percent service charge.
