Frankfurt’s deathcore scene just got a whole lot heavier.
Born from the remnants of metalcore outfit Impale in 2022, Sun Eater have been carving their own brutal path through Germany’s underground metal landscape. These Rhein-Main natives don’t mess around – they’re here to deliver gut-punching breakdowns and atmospheric devastation in equal measure.
Since their formation, the band has been prolific as hell. Their 2022 EP Wrath of Gods set the tone for what was to come: dark, modern, and absolutely unrelenting. But they haven’t been resting on their laurels. A steady stream of singles – „Parasite“ (2021), „Hades“, „Flight of Icarus“, „Moira“, and most recently „Harakiri Suicide“ (2025) – has kept fans fed and hungry for more.
Enter the Death Crown
Today marks a new chapter. Sun Eater just dropped their brand new single „Death Crown,“ and it’s a statement of intent. This track showcases everything that makes the band essential listening: crushing riffs, atmospheric depth, and a production that’s sharp enough to cut glass. It’s modern deathcore done right – cinematic, brutal, and absolutely unforgiving.
New Blood, Same Fury
2024/2025 brought significant changes to the Sun Eater camp. After longtime frontman Lukas Nicolai departed, the band recruited fresh vocal firepower. And here’s where it gets interesting: the new vocalist will make their live debut at the Heavy Grounds Festival in Aschaffenburg.
That’s right – if you want to witness history in the making, you know where to be. This isn’t just another festival slot; it’s the first chance to hear Sun Eater’s next era in the flesh, where their reputation for „dark, energetic live performances“ will be put to the ultimate test.
The band has already proven themselves at events like the Fall Fortress Open Air, but this feels different. This feels like a rebirth.
