There are good concerts. There are great concerts. And then there are those nights when you leave the venue thinking: That was f*cking great.
The Frankfurt stop of Black Stone Cherry’s The Celebrate Tour, with 10 Years as special guests, was definitely one of those nights.
Seeing 10 Years on a European stage is something of a rarity. The US alternative rockers spend much of their time touring their home country, making their appearances on this side of the Atlantic all the more special. With songs like “Wasteland” and their unmistakable alternative-rock sound, the band immediately set the tone for the evening.
Then it was time for Black Stone Cherry.
And this is where a great concert turned into something else entirely.
Rarely do you see a band bringing this much energy and sheer joy of playing to a stage. From the very first moments, the Kentucky rockers were constantly moving, interacting with the crowd and throwing themselves into every song.
There was no sense of simply working through a setlist. Black Stone Cherry looked like a band genuinely enjoying being on stage together – and that energy was impossible to miss.
Chris Robertson’s distinctive vocals, powerful guitar riffs and the driving rhythm section combined into a set that covered the band’s career while keeping the focus firmly on the live experience.
And the fans gave it straight back.
The crowd sang, danced and celebrated every moment. The connection between stage and audience was obvious throughout the entire show, with the energy constantly moving in both directions.
That’s what makes Black Stone Cherry such a powerful live band. Their songs already have plenty of energy on record, but on stage they become something much more immediate.
Some concerts are simply good.
Some are great.
And every now and then, you get one that is just fucking great.
Anyone who still wants to soak up these two live powerhouses needs to hurry – there are only a few German dates left!
