ROCKHARZ 2026: Four Days of Metal Beneath the Devil’s Wall – Ballenstedt, July 1–4, 2026

Four days of metal, more than 50 bands, two stages and a festival crowd that made ROCKHARZ 2026 a great festival experience. From July 1 to 4, the airfield in Ballenstedt became a place for celebration, headbanging and moshing.

The lineup offered a wide musical range. Helloween, Alice Cooper, Kreator, Feuerschwanz, Black Label Society, Avatar, Airbourne, Emperor, Paradise Lost, Biohazard, P.O.D. and many other bands took to the stages.

But ROCKHARZ is not defined by its bands alone.

Top-Level Organization

The festival impressed with strong organization. Many processes across the festival grounds worked smoothly. Long distances, large crowds and a packed schedule presented challenges for the organizers. The festival team kept everything under control.

Inclusion was another important aspect. It was visible throughout the festival grounds and was actively embraced by the organizers. People with different needs were naturally included in the festival experience.

The atmosphere among the crowd also stood out. Visitors were open, helpful and respectful towards each other. This atmosphere could be felt from the first day to the last.

The Grabenschlampen: Safety in Front of the Stage

Anyone attending ROCKHARZ was bound to come across the Grabenschlampen.

The crew is responsible for safety in front of the stage. An important part of their work is dealing with crowdsurfers in the photo pit. Surfers are safely caught and guided out of the pit.

The whole operation works through experience, commitment and a good dose of humor.

The Grabenschlampen have long been an integral part of ROCKHARZ culture.

Awesome people who do their job with passion.

Thanks to the crew, crowdsurfing is part of the ROCKHARZ festival experience without compromising safety.

The Music-Rebels Highlights

With a lineup of this size, choosing highlights is difficult. Four acts particularly stood out from the Music-Rebels perspective.

Wednesday: Black Label Society

Black Label Society kicked off the personal festival highlights.

Zakk Wylde and his band delivered heavy riffs, a powerful sound and plenty of Southern Rock influences. A strong performance to start the festival.

Thursday: Avatar

On Thursday, Avatar were among the highlights.

The Swedish band combines metal with its own visual world and a strong stage presence. The show worked extremely well on the large ROCKHARZ stage.

Friday: Airbourne

Airbourne brought pure rock’n’roll energy on Friday.

The Australians delivered their energetic sound straight to the crowd. Guitars, sweat and plenty of movement in front of the stage – Airbourne delivered one of the strongest shows of the festival.

Airborne

Saturday: Tungsten

Saturday was crowned by Tungsten from the Music-Rebels perspective.

The Swedish band brought modern and melodic metal to Ballenstedt. A performance that showed why it is worth looking beyond the bigger names in the lineup.

ROCKHARZ Stays True to Itself

The festival combines major international bands with a family-like atmosphere. Visitors come for the music and stay for the overall experience.

With the Devil’s Wall in the background, the Ballenstedt airfield offers an exceptional festival setting. Add short distances, two large stages and a crowd where solidarity is highly valued.

Despite its size, ROCKHARZ does not feel anonymous.

ROCKHARZ 2027: Sold Out

Anyone hoping to attend in 2027 has a problem: ROCKHARZ 2027 is already sold out.

The first wave of bands was announced shortly after the end of ROCKHARZ 2026. With Bruce Dickinson, Accept, Arch Enemy, Eisbrecher, Lord Of The Lost, Korpiklaani, Metal Church, Marduk, GWAR, The Sisters Of Mercy, H-BLOCKX and Alestorm, numerous major names have already been confirmed.

Ticket sales then moved extremely quickly. After just over twelve hours, around 90 percent of the tickets had already been sold. After three days, all available tickets were gone.

ROCKHARZ 2027 was therefore sold out within a very short period of time.

Conclusion

ROCKHARZ 2026 impressed with a strong lineup, excellent organization and a crowd that made the festival a special experience.

Black Label Society, Avatar, Airbourne and Tungsten were among the highlights from the Music-Rebels perspective.

Lived inclusion, the Grabenschlampen as the safety crew in front of the stage and an open festival community are just as much a part of ROCKHARZ as major metal bands and loud guitars.

2027 is next.

The tickets are already gone.
