EVERGREY – Architects Of A New Weave

Some bands survive their darkness. And then there’s Evergrey, who draw strength from it. Gothenburg’s architects of melancholy return with their fifteenth album – and this time, the gloom sounds less like retreat than like ascent.

Architects Of A New Weave arrives on June 5, 2026 via Napalm Records – and the timing could hardly be more symbolic. Just days later, the band takes the stage as special guest to Iron Maiden on their Run For Your Lives World Tour. For a band that has been refining its own brand of melodic, progressive dark metal since the late nineties, that’s a stage well earned.

Anyone who knows Evergrey knows this: there’s no lingering in the shadows here. The band describes the new record as a plunge into thinning air, burning worlds, and lingering guilt – only to break free with full force. It ascends: fast, heavy, and cinematic. The choruses break through like sunlight piercing storm clouds, carried by riffs with genuine weight and a voice that shies away from no truth.

The album shines with tracks like „The World Is On Fire,“ „Leaving The Emptiness,“ „Heaven,“ and „The Prophecy“ – crowned by the title anthem „Architects Of The New Weave.“ But the emotional peak comes from a summit meeting of two Gothenburg legends: in the second half of the album, scene icon Mikael Stanne (Dark Tranquillity, The Halo Effect, Grand Cadaver, Cemetery Skyline) shares the microphone with Tom S. Englund on „A Burning Flame“ – two voices artfully intertwined.

The band itself sat behind the boards: produced by Tom S. Englund and Vikram Shankar, mixed by Adam „Nolly“ Getgood – a trio that lends the album its massive yet detail-rich sound.

Collectors and completists should reach for the exclusive formats: they include a full bonus album, featuring the tracks „Heights“ and „One Heart,“ an album mix of the standalone single „OXYGEN!“ (2025), a demo version of „Longing,“ an instrumental of „Leaving The Emptiness,“ and a live version of „Falling From The Sun,“ the hit single off the previous record Theories of Emptiness (2024).

In the end, one message remains – one Evergrey embody like few others: chaos doesn’t claim victory; you do. Nothing – not pain, not darkness, not any storm – gets to label you broken. Architects Of A New Weave is exactly that – the architecture of a new beginning.
