EPICA – Aspiral- Release: 11.04.25 – Genre: Symphonic Metal

With Aspiral, EPICA isn’t just raising the bar — they’ve launched it into the stratosphere. Blending the grandeur of symphonic arrangements with the fierce backbone of metal, the band has delivered a record that doesn’t just build on their legacy — it transcends it.This journey didn’t happen overnight.

EPICA has always chased the extraordinary. During the global standstill of the pandemic, they created “Omega Alive” — a cinematic livestream that reimagined what a concert experience could be. Dancers, acrobats, fire, rain, drama — it was art meeting ambition in full force. Then came The Alchemy Project, a bold and unexpected collaboration EP with artists as far apart as ABORTED and URIAH HEEP — a testament to EPICA’s versatility and creative reach.

Even while recording Aspiral, the band was never idle: supporting METALLICA on their M72 world tour, co-headlining Summer Breeze Brazil, and pulling off massive orchestral shows in Amsterdam and Mexico City in front of over 30,000 fans. Every move felt like a calculated leap forward.Enter Aspiral. A work of razor-sharp focus — musically, visually, spiritually.

The band teamed up with contemporary sculptor Hedi Xandt (known for work with Rammstein, Ghost, Parkway Drive) to craft a visual language as bold and rich as the music itself. It’s not just artwork; it’s a statement. The number nine — the band’s ninth studio album — carries symbolic weight here: divinity, perfection, transcendence.

EPICA channels this with uncanny precision. From the explosive opener “Cross the Divide” to the breathtaking title track “Aspiral,” a haunting ballad that showcases Simone Simons at her most vulnerable and powerful, the album is a rollercoaster in the best sense. It’s chaotic, refined, cinematic — and deeply human.Lyrically and sonically, Aspiral distills everything that defines EPICA. It’s bombastic without being bloated, intricate without losing impact. Every note, every word, every visual — it’s driven by a singular force: passion.

EPICA isn’t just still in the game. Aspiral proves they own it.2025 is theirs.
