Punk is not dead – numerous bands have proven this in recent years, with the British punk and grunge scene in particular experiencing a strong revival. One of the most prominent bands in this renaissance is The Virginmarys, whose energetic mix of genres is inspiring many.
The band was founded in 2009 in the otherwise rather tranquil town of Macclesfield, when Ally Dickaty came together as singer, Danny Dolan as drummer and Matt Rose as bassist. The Virginmarys initially released a limited series of EPs, which were always sold out, before their debut album „King of Conflict“ was released in 2013. The reviews were consistently positive – the album reached third place on the Billboard New Artist Alternative Charts and was nominated for Best Album at the Classic Rock Awards 2013. The band also won the title of „Best Breakthrough Act“ at the same awards. Their second album „Divides“, which was produced by rock legend Gil Norton, followed in 2016. With their classic style of powerful guitar riffs, intense drums and Dickaty’s raspy voice, the band gained more and more fans. Especially the often very profound lyrics about personal struggles and socio-political issues appeal to many in the rock and punk scene.
Now the new studio album ‚The House Beyond The Fires‘ has been released. The first as a duo.
The making of the album is unfortunately closely linked to family loss, as the band explains: „‚The House Beyond the Fires‘ has a lot of personal meaning because it’s a tribute to Danny’s father, Tommy Dolan, who passed away last year. It’s hard to describe how much he meant to us and how deeply saddened everyone who loved him is. The LP is a direct reference to his infamous store ‚The House of Fires‘; it seemed fitting to make a direct reference to his love, support and influence in the album title.“
It will be accompanied by an extensive UK and European tour, where fans can look forward to five intense German concerts full of rebellious energy. The special combination of hard-hitting, haunting melodies and meaningful lyrics make for a guaranteed unforgettable experience!
