When a band manages to organize two successful festivals on their own responsibility, each of which is a unique success story in its own right, in addition to everything that happens in the band’s everyday life – studio, tour, promo dates, etc. – then there are two things in particular behind it, in addition to a lot of time, sweat and planning: Passion and friendship. It is this friendship that has helped the South Tyrolean rockers from UNANTASTBAR and their crew to organize the WIR LEBEN LAUT Festival in Loburg (Saxony-Anhalt) since 2023 in addition to the GEGEN DIE STILLE Festival, which the band has been organizing every two years in their hometown of Sterzing since 2019. And there is the passion that drives them all to create something special and unique that they, as fans, have always longed for.
So here’s the GEGEN DIE STILLE festival in Sterzing, South Tyrol, which was launched to celebrate the band’s 15th anniversary in 2019. What’s special about it? The festival takes place in close cooperation with the Sterzing tourism cooperative in the historic town center and on the huts of Sterzing’s local mountain Rosskopf, in a mountain and valley, so to speak – a concept that is unique in this form. This year, UNANTASTBAR were able to give themselves a present for the band’s 20th birthday with their home game there and celebrate a great festival with bands such as THE NEW ROSES and ALEXANDER EDER and countless fans.
But that’s not all: To mark the release of their eponymous album 2023 with Napalm Records, UNANTASTBAR organized the WIR LEBEN LAUT festival in Loburg for the first time last year – in collaboration with local organizer Christian Werner (Spirit Festival). The band emphasizes: „Our goal was always to establish a small, informal rock and metal festival that puts music, closeness and community above commerce; as a kind of gift to our fans who simply want to celebrate fun punk rock and real heavy cult acts at an event. We don’t want to be a classic scene festival. Our intention from the very beginning was to bring various bands from different genres to the stage at the WIR LEBEN LAUT festival – with the clear aim of bringing people together instead of dividing them.“
And their success proves them right: in comparison, the number of spectators in 2024 has doubled. In addition to the keg tapping at the festival opening (with DJ Evil Jared, BLOODHOUND GANG), the main highlights were the Sunday headliners GUANO APES. Next year, DORO PESCH, MAERZFELD, SUBWAY TO SALLY, WILLKUER or KÄRBHOLZ and the FÄASCHTBÄNKLER from Switzerland will also be performing in Loburg alongside many others. UNANTASTBAR are delighted: „Advance sales for the WIR LEBEN LAUT Festival 2025 are already in full swing. We think we’ve managed to bring together different bands that haven’t played at a festival like this before and to add one or two bands that many people don’t know yet. We are already looking forward to an unforgettable weekend, all under the motto: We live big, we live LOUD …“
