Aus den Tiefen der Ozeane – PIRATES!
Mit ihrem letzten Erfolgsalbum, Wanderers (2019), und der kürzlich veröffentlichten ersten Live-Blu-Ray/-DVD der Band-Geschichte, A Symphonic Journey to Remember, haben die Symphonic-Metal-Visionäre VISIONS OF ATLANTIS ganz ohne Zweifel bewiesen, dass sie zu Recht an der Spitze des Genres stehen. Nun setzt die Band einmal mehr die Segel und bricht auf zu einem packenden Abenteuer, das zugleich den Beginn eines neuen Kapitels in der fantastischen Geschichte von VISIONS OF ATLANTIS schreibt. Das atemberaubende achte Studioalbum, Pirates (13.05.2022), markiert einen Wendepunkt in der Diskografie und zeigt das internationale Quintett selbstbewusst und offen wie nie zuvor.
VISIONS OF ATLANTIS haben ihren Weg gefunden und erheben sich mit einer rebellischen Seite und einem freien Geist, so unbändig wie die sieben Weltmeere.
Pirates entführt den Hörer auf eine kathartische Reise durch faszinierende Klanglandschaften und eindringlich schöne Melodien gepaart mit symphonischer Härte, die musikalisch sowie lyrisch eine Form des Wandels und der Selbstfindung verkörpert: „Wir können jetzt mit absoluter Sicherheit in die Welt hinaustragen, dass wir Piraten sind. Das waren wir schon immer, doch jetzt sind wir uns unserer Identität wirklich bewusst und wollen das der Welt zeigen“, so Sängerin Clémentine Delauney. Thematisch befasst sich das neue Album nicht nur mit der sonnigen Seite des Lebens, sondern stellt sich auch mutig den dunklen Nuancen, die in jedem schlummern. „Diesen Prozess habe auch ich selbst durchlaufen“, erzählt Delauney. „Ich habe mich stark mit meiner dunklen Seite auseinandergesetzt und sie zu schätzen gelernt – denn sie ist ein Teil von mir“.
Mit einem Team, das aus Clémentine selbst, Sänger Michele Guaitoli und Produzent Felix Heldt besteht, ist es VISIONS OF ATLANTIS mit Pirates gelungen, der musikalischen Identität mutigere Strukturen zu verpassen und somit ein ganz neues Klangspektrum zu eröffnen, das schließlich das neue Markenzeichen der Band formt. Mit dem epischen Opener „Pirates Will Return“ stechen die Symphonic-Metaller in See und verzaubern direkt durch einen hymnischen Refrain und hochklassige Vielseitigkeit: Im Handumdrehen schaffen VISIONS OF ATLANTIS ihr ganz eigenes, unvergleichliches Universum aus symphonischer Epik, intensivem Riffing und der beeindruckenden stimmlichen Symbiose von Clémentine Delauney und Michele Guaitoli. Delauneys facettenreiche Darbietungen oszillieren zwischen klarem Gesang, kraftvollen Höhen und opernhaften Techniken, während Guaitoli als ergänzender Part erstklassige Power-Metal-Passagen offeriert. Pirates prescht mit eingängigen Hooklines weiter voran, wie etwa im mächtigen „Melancholy Angel“, mitreißenden „Clocks“, kraftvollen „Wild Elysium“ oder majestätischen „Master The Hurricane“. Letzteres lässt mit seiner perfekt ausbalancierten Mischung aus dramatischen Chören, schwerer Orchestrierung und hingebungsvollem Gesang das Herz eines jeden Symphonic-Metal-Fans höherschlagen. Mit „Legion Of The Seas“ zeigen sich VISIONS OF ATLANTIS von ihrer bisher härtesten Seite, ohne dabei ihr unnachahmliches Gespür für traumhafte symphonische Melodien aus den Augen zu verlieren. Die sanften Balladen „Freedom“ und „Heal The Scars“ erzeugen sofort Gänsehaut, während die Band einen ehrlich tiefen und emotionalen Einblick gewährt, der zugleich Stärke verkörpert, als auch ein wohliges Gefühl von Zusammengehörigkeit vermittelt. Mit dem hypnotisierenden „I Will Be Gone“ steuert Pirates in Richtung Hafen, baut vorher aber noch eine dramatische Sound-Wand auf, die von harmonischen Flöten und Dudelsäcken untermalt wird – dargeboten von keinem Geringeren als FEUERSCHWANZ-Virtuose Ben Metzner (auch zu hören auf „In My World“, „Master The Hurricane“ und „Heal The Scars“).
Auf Pirates schaffen es VISIONS OF ATLANTIS wahrlich, dass ihre Hörer das Salz des Meeres in der Luft schmecken, den Wind auf der Haut spüren und die grenzenlose Unabhängigkeit atmen, wie es nur wahre Piraten können. „Die Freiheit schätzen, ungewöhnliche Wege gehen, unsere Welt beherrschen – es existieren keine Grenzen in dem, was wir denken, glauben und erfahren können. From the Deep & the Dark…PIRATES arise!
With their latest chart-topping studio album, Wanderers (2019), and the recent release of their first ever live BluRay/DVD, A Symphonic Journey To Remember, symphonic metal visionaries VISIONS OF ATLANTIS have, without a doubt, proven that they are on top of the scene. Now, the band sets sail on another adventurous journey and new exciting chapter, marking a turning point in their discography with the upcoming album, Pirates, out May 13, 2022 via Napalm Records. With their eighth full-length, VISIONS OF ATLANTIS deliver their most confident and honest record so far, proving that they have definitely stopped wandering to finally unleash their rebellious side and a free spirit untamed as the seven seas.
The band invites its listeners to join them on a marvelous ride through intriguing soundscapes and hauntingly beautiful melodies along with smashing symphonic heaviness, that musically and lyrically embodies a form of transition and self-discovery: “We embrace who we are and we can state it in the eyes of everyone that we are Pirates now – we have always been, but now we are confident in our identity and we want to show it to the world”, states vocalist Clémentine Delauney. The new offering boldly opens the door to not only the light parts in life but its lurking with darker aspects as well. “This is actually the process I have been through myself. I’ve been doing a lot of shadow work where you get to know and embrace the dark side of yourself – which is just another part of you.”
With a team consisting of Clémentine herself, vocalist Michele Guaitoli and producer Felix Heldt, VISIONS OF ATLANTIS managed to secure a firm writing crew and shift their musical identity to braver structures and a new world that is way more complex – something that will be the new trademarks of the band. The album pulls the anchor with the epic opener “Pirates Will Return”, which instantly enchants with its hymnlike chorus and showcases the high-class versatility from the very first second. In the blink of an eye, VISIONS OF ATLANTIS manage to create their very own incomparable universe of symphonic epicness, intense riffing and, above all, the impressive vocal symbiosis of Clémentine Delauney and Michele Guaitoli. Delauney’s bewitching offerings oscillate between clear vocals, powerful belting and operatic techniques, whereas matchless counterpart Guaitoli adds spice with top-notch power metal infusions. Pirates presses ahead with catchy hook lines, like in mighty ”Melancholy Angel”, rousing “Clocks”, charging “Wild Elysium” and majestic “Master The Hurricane” – the latter of which will make every symphonic metal enthusiast’s heart pound faster through its perfectly balanced mixture of dramatic choirs, heavy orchestration and dedicated vocals. With “Legion Of The Seas” VISIONS OF ATLANTIS present their heaviest side so far without losing their inimitable feeling for creating dreamlike symphonic melodies. Gentle ballads “Freedom” and “Heal The Scars” immediately evoke goosebumps as the band showcases both a deep emotional facet embodying strength, as well as a common bond. Pirates reaches the harbor for now with mesmerizing “I Will Be Gone”, building up a dramatic wall of sound accented by harmonizing flutes and bagpipes, delivered by no less than FEUERSCHWANZ virtuoso Ben Metzner, who joins also on “In My World”, “Master the Hurricane” and “Heal The Scars”.
