Last Sunday, Kesselhaus at Schlachthof Wiesbaden became the setting for an energetic evening of alternative rock as British band As December Falls brought their tour to its final stop in Germany.
Before the Nottingham-based band took the stage, local support Pentastone from Darmstadt opened the evening. Singer Lou was dealing with health issues that had clearly affected her voice, but that did little to diminish the band’s enthusiasm for the show. From the first moments on stage, Pentastone made it clear that they were determined to give the audience everything they had.
Despite the vocal limitations, the band delivered their set with plenty of energy and commitment. The crowd responded accordingly, showing their appreciation and giving Pentastone a warm reception. It was a strong performance under less-than-ideal circumstances and a fitting start to the evening.
After the changeover, it was time for As December Falls. The Nottingham-based band brought their mix of alternative rock and pop-punk influences to the Kesselhaus, with singer Bethany Hunter at the centre of the performance.
From the opening moments, the atmosphere inside the venue was intense. The relatively intimate setting of the Kesselhaus allowed the band to maintain a close connection with the audience throughout the show. Driving guitars, catchy melodies and heavier passages came together in a set that reflected the band’s energetic approach to live performances.
With this being the final show of the tour, the evening naturally carried a special atmosphere. After weeks on the road, Wiesbaden marked the last opportunity for the band to share these songs with their fans before heading home. Rather than treating it as just another date, As December Falls embraced the occasion and turned the final night into a celebration.
The audience played their part throughout the evening, singing along, moving with the music and creating the kind of atmosphere that makes a small venue show memorable.
For Pentastone, it was a challenging night due to their singer’s vocal condition, but their willingness to go on stage and deliver regardless was met with plenty of support from the crowd. For As December Falls, Wiesbaden provided the final chapter of their tour – a loud, energetic and emotional farewell to the road.
