MOONSPELL Unveil Lyric Video as New Album ‚Far From God‘ Nears Release

Portuguese gothic metal veterans MOONSPELL have released a lyric video for ‚The Great Wolf in the Sky‘, the latest single from their highly anticipated new studio album ‚Far From God‘. The record arrives on July 3 via Napalm Records and has already drawn widespread critical acclaim across Europe and beyond.MOONSPELL are entering one of the most celebrated chapters of their career with the imminent release of ‚Far From God‘, due July 3 via Napalm Records. To mark the occasion, the Portuguese gothic metal icons have unveiled a lyric video for ‚The Great Wolf in the Sky‘, a sweeping, atmospheric anthem driven by expansive keys, harmonized guitars and a guest appearance by Alicia Nuhro on strings.

Frontman Fernando Ribeiro describes the track as a heartfelt tribute to wolves that have crossed the band’s path over the years, serving as both a meditation on loss and a bridge connecting MOONSPELL’s past, present and future. The song was among the first written for the album and was carefully developed over the course of more than three years. Ribeiro also dedicates it to a fan and friend who passed away before hearing the new record.

Produced by Jaime Gomez Arellano, known for his work with Paradise Lost, Sólstafir and Ghost, ‚Far From God‘ emerges from five years of creative searching and rediscovery. Thematically, the album navigates Baudelairian love, existential guilt, vampiric mythology and sacred symbolism, all rendered in MOONSPELL’s distinctly romantic and uncompromising style. The album artwork was painted by Eliran Kantor.

Critical reception has been remarkable, with cover stories in Legacy Magazine, Metallian and Rock Hard Italy, alongside a 9/10 from Powerplay Magazine and strong reviews from Metal Hammer editions in Germany and Spain. MOONSPELL have an extensive live schedule running through 2026, including appearances at Dark River Festival in Finland, Castle Party in Poland and London’s Cosmic Void Festival.
