40 years of „Power From Hell“, over four decades of band history: The year 2025 is definitely a milestone in the history book of UK thrash metallers ONSLAUGHT, as they are celebrating both their origins and their legendary debut album, which was released in 1985.
The band now present a career-defining album entitled „Origins Of Aggression“, which will be released on May 23rd, 2025 via Reigning Phoenix Music, where they have recently been based. The first part features ten newly recorded tracks from ONSLAUGHT’s early days [1982-1989], while the second section is a colorful bouquet of cover versions of songs by several punk and metal bands – from the DEAD KENNEDYS, THE EXPLOITED and DISCHARGE to JUDAS PRIEST, BLACK SABBATH and many more. – who have had a decisive influence on the band’s sound. Part 2 also features ONSLAUGHT’s interpretation of MOTÖRHEAD’s ‚Iron Fist‘, which is the first single from the upcoming album.
„What true metalhead doesn’t love MOTÖRHEAD? We are no exception. I was once a beginner on guitar myself, but Lemmy, Phil and Eddie changed our course as a band from our hardcore punk roots to metal for good. I learned the entire „Live At Hammersmith“ album back then, including the solos, which really helped my playing and guitar knowledge. It was a real learning process for ONSLAUGHT, which is why we always jam MOTÖRHEAD songs at rehearsals or live. By the way: The reason why we covered ‚Iron Fist‘ of all songs is not only because it is one of their heaviest and most aggressive tracks. In 1987, we had the opportunity to tour Europe together with MOTÖRHEAD, who were presenting „Orgasmatron“ at the time. We had just arrived at the Zurich concert hall, which was our first stop, when MOTÖRHEAD were just starting their sound check. Lemmy entered the stage, tapped his foot four times and the guys launched into ‚Iron Fist’… WHAT THE HELL WAS THAT?! THAT BLEW ALL OUR SOCKS OFF! I had never experienced anything like that before, which is why that moment will forever be a part of our history, which it changed forever,“ recalls founding member Nige Rockett (guitar).
The single is accompanied by a powerful music video. This furious cover emphasizes ONSLAUGHT’s punk/metal origins while exuding the rebellious spirit that still runs through their veins.
