While the North is still partying – the true metal highlight already took place in the Harz!
While a major metal festival is currently drawing crowds in northern Germany, die-hard metalheads know better: The real highlight of the summer went down about four weeks ago – under blazing heat, clear skies, and an atmosphere like no other at the legendary Rockharz Festival 2025.
With a vibe somewhere between family reunion and explosive metal mayhem, this year’s Rockhar once again delivered a weekend of unforgettable energy, emotion, and intensity – loud, dusty, and raw.
Draconian’s return: A moment worth waiting for Friday evening

Saw one of the most heartfelt moments of the festival when Draconian finally stepped onto the stage – a full year after their weather-cancelled set in 2024. Their atmospheric and emotional performance cast a haunting spell over the infield, reminding everyone of the power of patience and passion.
Powerwolf: Fan love meets pyro madness

Earlier that day, Powerwolf surprised fans with a spontaneous and packed autograph session. Always close to their audience, the band made time for countless signatures and photos before transforming into metal clergy by night.

Their headline set later that evening was nothing short of spectacular – a full-blown mass of fire, choirs, and theatrical power-metal might. With explosive pyros, soaring vocals, and larger-than-life presence, Powerwolf delivered a sermon no one will soon forget.
Heaven Shall Burn – with a voice of strength and solidarity One of the most talked-about performances came from Heaven Shall Burn, who took the stage with a special twist: Due to a vocal injury, frontman Marcus Bischoff had to sit this one out – but the band refused to cancel. Stepping in was none other than Britta Görtz of Hiraes, who brought sheer power and raw energy to the stage. Her performance was not just a substitute – it was a declaration of unity in the metal scene. The crowd embraced her with thunderous applause as she fronted the band through a fierce and flawless set.
A festival full of highlights
Beyond these memorable moments, the Rockharz lineup was stacked with high-caliber acts and newcomer surprises: From the melodic death of Insomnium, the symphonic might of Apocalyptica, and the brutality of Cradle of Filth, to crowd-pleasers like Sodom, Dragonforce, and many more. Every slot was a celebration of heavy music in all its forms.

Whether headbanging under the midday sun or raising your horns under the stars, the spirit of Rockharz was alive in every set, every chorus, and every circle pit.
Conclusion: Rockharz reigns supreme
Dust on your boots, sunburn on your shoulders, and a ringing in your ears – that’s how Rockharz 2025 will be remembered. More than just a festival, it was a gathering of a community that thrives on connection, music, and shared intensity.

With 2026 already on the horizon and major acts like Alice Cooper and Helloween confirmed, it’s safe to say: Harz beats them all.
See you next year – same place, even louder!
