Amon Amarth – The Allfather Awakens: The Allfather Calls Europe to Arms

The new album has been out for a week, and now it’s time to hit the road: Amon Amarth kick off their European tour.

With The Allfather Awakens in their arsenal and Soilwork and Orbit Culture along as special guests, the Swedish melodic death metallers are set to storm the UK and the rest of Europe. Frankfurt is on the route too, and for us at Music-Rebels, that’s a date circled in red.

New Songs Between Myth and Metal

The Allfather Awakens has been out since October 2. On their 13th studio album, Amon Amarth once again dive deep into Norse mythology and the tales surrounding Oden, the Allfather. It isn’t a concept album, though: the ten tracks tell standalone stories of conflict, sacrifice and the fight for a greater cause.

The songs were written on the road rather than after the band came home. They were then tracked in two sessions, months apart, with producer Jacob Hansen in Denmark. The Swedes followed one simple rule: every song was fully finished, drums, guitars and vocals, before work began on the next.

Opener „Gjallarhorn“ tells of Oden’s sacrifice at the Well of Wisdom, where he gave up an eye in exchange for knowledge and foresight. „Eight Legs of Thunder“ pays tribute to Sleipnir, Oden’s eight-legged steed. And „Upphaf“ marks a true first: set to a stanza from the Völuspá, it is the first fully acoustic song in the band’s history.

„The Allfather Awakes“ was the last song written and ended up giving the record its name. The artwork comes from Tom Thiel, his seventh album cover for Amon Amarth.

The Allfather Awakens Tour 2026: A Home Game in Frankfurt

With Soilwork and Orbit Culture in tow, Amon Amarth are bringing two more Swedish metal heavyweights along for the ride. The show promises plenty for the eyes as well: the band has announced an all-new theatrical stage production and an extended headline set.

After three shows in the UK, the tour heads through France and Luxembourg into Germany. From there it sweeps across the continent before wrapping up in Lisbon on November 15.

On Saturday, October 17, Amon Amarth roll into Frankfurt’s Festhalle. With Soilwork and Orbit Culture on the bill, it’s an all-Swedish night of melodic metal, where fresh material meets classics spanning more than three decades of band history.

If you’ve already spun The Allfather Awakens, this is your chance to hear the new songs live just weeks after release. And if you haven’t yet, there’s still time to get acquainted with all ten tracks before the show.
